    • I used to love my name as well but many people always made jokes about it. I hope people understand that they might be bringing someone’s self esteem down.

  5. Hi. My name is Karen. I’ve always hated my middle name so much that as an adult I’ve completely dropped it. (No, I’m not going to share what it is.) There are quite a few nicknames on the list I’ve never heard & a couple I wouldn’t mind. I like Ren or Rennie. I have been called Kari & Kareenie. I have always loved my name because my dad always reminded me that he gave me that name so that I would be caring of others throughout my life. That is why I am so disheartened about the current trend to use my name to describe an angry prejudiced white woman & I wish it would stop. Am I alone in this or are there other Karen’s that feel the same same way?

    • Hi Karen, I’m struggling with using my name on social media. So, so sick of the daily comments like ‘Wow, you really are a Karen…’, thus shutting down any chance I have if expressing an opinion. I’m seriously thinking of changing my Google account name. It actually hurts my feelings…childish I know but there you go.

      • Girl, I’m the same. I am so sick of the “Karen” thing. I saw some cute nicknames on here, but at 37 I feel like it’s too late to start. UGH.

        • I feel your pain. I’m 58. I even looked into legally changing my name. I feel like I have to explain myself when I introduce myself to people. I hate giving my name for waiting for a table or anything else for that matter. I use to love my name. Now I feel almost ashamed for being named that.
